Leadership is about inspiring. So how do you become inspired? How do you inspire others?
The best movies are those that inspire. How many dance movies have you seen that makes you want to go out in the street and dance afterwards. Such movies give people hope and a good feeling.
In business, inspiration is when asked to jump – the response being how high, and if asked to buy then the response would be how many.
Then there is the correlation between respect and authority. If you are respected then effectively have an authority in that subject. This authority is through inspiration.
So if you are in the sales and marketing business, forget you are a sales person, but someone who can inspire. This really would help people take an action they would normally not have taken.
A used car sales person is generally a ‘pitch’ person. They are looking at ways to earn high commissions so learn the art of manipulation (generalising of course). They are looking at ways for people to sign. They look at where their prospect is most vulnerable. However, these techniques work well though.
Richard Branson is always referred to as a successful entrepreneur. But of course he is one of many. With Richard, he really has managed to build a great brand. The Virgin brand has a way of inspiring people because of what people perceive it to stand for.
Entrepreneurs are not driven by money, but driven by a vision. Many start off in debt, but they have a goal and vision they aspire to. It’s the intensity, commitment and determination that gets them through and to reap the rewards along the way.
